Impact and Commitment

IMPACT AND COMMITMENt

CONSCIOUS DESIGN

Linde Werdelin works with factories based in Switzerland, Italy, and Portugal. Despite its small size, it is close to its suppliers to whom they constantly advise to work towards sustainable production and use of material. Linde Werdelin’s strategy is to reduce the negative impact of production, marketing, and selling.

RECYCLED PACKAGING

In manufacturing new products, the brand uses recyclable and reusable materials. They produce minimal marketing material (a 90% reduction from previous years) and always with the view of it being useful over the long term, e.g. watch boxes to travel with or a dust bag for wet items when travelling serve multiple purposes for our end customer.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY

By primarily selling direct and made to order, LW has eliminated over-production to 0%. The brand has taken significant steps to encourage the buying and selling of their pre-owned pieces, creating an internal marketplace with authentication and extended guarantee that was the first in the industry.

They also customise new and existing watches. By customising existing watches they encourage extended use of them and potentially avoid a purchase of a new/replacement watch. In these ways, the brand is engaging and taking responsibility for all watches they have ever made.

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

Linde Werdelin ensures that each employee are treated equally by offering a gender pay policy, with 60% of the team female. All of the brand’s employees are freelance with flexible work practices at the heart of the company. Team members are paid more than minimum wage and the brand currently only employs in the UK.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

The brand has reduced air travel by 90% through selling direct and reduced office space by 100%. They have converted part of a house into a mixed use space where a small team work and freelancers can come and go, thereby minimising unused space and the energy consumption that comes with it.

Additionally, they produce minimal marketing material. As far as possible the brand uses reusable and recyclable materials in their product design and development process.
