Twice yearly, our Open House events are an opportunity to bring together our Real Changemakers, partners and friends in the wider Positive Luxury community for stimulating discussion on all things luxury sustainability. Our 2024 Spring Open House was held at Home Grown, an established private members’ club curated for entrepreneurs, investors and changemakers, that earned Butterfly Mark certification in July 2023.
Beatrix Perks, Associate Client Director of Positive Luxury, hosted a panel discussion on the critical role of responsible sourcing in shaping a sustainable future, with panellists Olivia Canham, Sustainability Manager of Monica Vinader, and Siobhan Kelly, Associate Director of David Collins Studio. They shared insights on how they have implemented responsible sourcing, the resulting benefits to their businesses and advice to others looking to improve their procurement practices.
Below, discover some key insights from the discussion on what sustainable sourcing means to their businesses and watch the panel in full.
“For us, responsible sourcing is integral to our business and has been for the last few years. I think what it means to us is all about the traceability and transparency. If you don’t know where your raw materials come from and who is supplying them to you then you don’t know the impact you are having environmentally or socially.”
Olivia Canham, Sustainability Manager at Monica Vinader
“As we are a client service led business rather than product, we want to ensure that we are thinking very carefully about what we are specifying for our projects, advising our clients, educating our team…Our agency really does change as the projects progress, so for us the area where we have the most ability to influence the end product really is sourcing at the very start.”
