WATCH THE PANEL DISCUSSION: THE BRITISH LUXURY FASHION INDUSTRY IN A POST COVID-19 ERA
October, 2020
Positive Luxury were delighted to take part in a recent panel event to discuss the future of the British luxury fashion industry in a post Covid-19 world, as part of the first ever fully digital London Fashion Week.
Jane Shepherdson of My Wardrobe HQ hosted the conversation, joined by Caroline Rush from the British Fashion Council, designer Amy Powney and Positive Luxury’s CEO and co-founder Diana Verde Nieto.
The panel spoke about the unique challenges the luxury fashion industry has faced in 2020 and, more importantly, how a fast-paced industry has been forced to slow down and rethink the way they operate.
Sustainability was top of the morning’s agenda, with the speakers reflecting on how British fashion is doing more to grow and change, as well as the importance of not just talking about sustainability but actually “activating it”, an insight we also explored in our recent Focus Report.
Amy Powney said that Covid-19 gave her time to reflect. “Would we have really addressed sustainability if we didn’t have time to think? We have to use this time to come out the other side […] learning something.”
And as Caroline Rush summed up: “I genuinely hope that this is change for good. This [is an] opportunity to pause and really think about an industry that has needed to reset for some time.”
