Our Sustainability Client Services Director, Belen Satorre Berbegal, recently sat down with LK Bennett, as part of their Confidence & Styling series to discuss their journey to achieving Butterfly Mark certification, why the luxury industry needs to mitigate its impact on the planet, and what she loves most about her job. Read the interview below.
What’s been your role in LK Bennett’s journey to accreditation?
As the Sustainability Client Services Director at Positive Luxury, I have advised LK Bennett on their Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) and Innovation assessment to achieve the Butterfly Mark certification – and become one of our Real Changemakers. We are currently working on next steps post-certification to continue embedding more sustainable initiatives across LK Bennett’s operations.
What do you most enjoy about your job?
I love that our approach to sustainability is not a ‘one-size fits all’ and it is measurable through our bespoke ESG+ assessment. We understand luxury needs a more considered and complex approach as each luxury business size, territory and industry category requires to understand what their most material topics are, and the sustainability legislation that will impact their businesses and the way they report. This makes my job very dynamic; every day is a different opportunity to help clients to mitigate their ESG related risks as well as working with a very talented and purpose-driven team.
What’s your go to style for office dressing?
At Positive Luxury, we have a very business-casual style for employees to feel comfortable in what they wear while keeping their own style. I normally wear dresses to the office as these are a full outfit in one garment.
