Peoples of All Nations introduces their LOVE series
London-based brand Peoples of All Nations, founded by the former head of menswear at Vivienne Westwood Georg Weissacher, is spotlighting their current cruise collection. Called LOVE, it’s inspired by all the emotions all kinds of love can produce, and how those emotions are innately human.
The retro florals and oversized jackets in the collection also nod to its other inspiration – the film, The Sound of Music, and the city it was made in, Salzbug, Austria. That film is a love story, capturing the love the lead character Maria has for god, then the children she cares for, and then the romantic love she has for Captain Von Trapp, all set against World War II.
Peoples of All Nations examines how love collides with fashion through this collection, translating the classic love story into a modern one. All-over prints are a major focus, just like the curtains Maria repurposed as dresses for the children in The Sound of Music, as with the LOVE collection’s limited-edition iteration of the Maude Dress. It’s cut to a relaxed fit from linen, and finished with a shirting collar and playful puffed sleeves.Since Mozart is also from Salzburg, the collection gives him some love, too. The Amadeus T-shirt is printed with his name, upside down on 100 percent organic cotton, and it has a classic crew-neck silhouette.
Another favourite item from the LOVE collection is the Picnic Basket. Just like the bag Maria was carrying when she first arrived at the Von Trapp house, it has a structured suitcase shape. It comes with everything you need for the perfect summer picnic, including cutlery, plates, a wine opener, embroidered linen napkins, chopsticks and playing cards. Peoples of All Nations encourages filling it with their favourite snacks: hummus, bread, bean sprouts, avocado and roasted artichokes, along with the fixings for gin and tonics.
These pieces, along with the entire LOVE cruise collection, are available for purchase online on the Peoples of All Nations website until September 14. And on September 15, their cowboy-themed autumn collection, called Outdoor will launch, coinciding with the grand opening of their brand new store in Soho, London.
