When was Allect born, and can you tell us more about the meaning behind the name?
Allect was born in 2018. The name is inspired by the Latin word ‘allecto,’ meaning to ‘entice and allure.’ This reflects our mission to captivate and evoke emotional responses through exceptional beauty and design. Our brands aim to engage deeply with audiences by harnessing the art of discerning craft and creativity.
Can you tell us a bit more about Allect’s purpose and mission?
Allect’s purpose is to unite leading names in architecture, interior, product design and construction, fostering unmatched creativity and innovation, achieving excellence by leveraging our collective strength and extensive network. We enhance each brand’s potential through collaboration and a commitment to high standards, while preserving craftsmanship and artisan skills. By combining business acumen with a creative strategy, we aim to set new benchmarks in design and delivery. Our global acquisition strategy seeks to identify and integrate exciting opportunities, positioning Allect as the world’s leading luxury design and delivery group.
How does Allect embed luxury into its business model?
We specialise in a diverse range of residential, hospitality and commercial projects – spanning countryside estates and mansions to listed buildings, ski chalets in Niseko, and hotel design in Monaco to yachting, aviation and food and beverage. For Allect, how do the worlds of luxury and sustainability collide?
For Allect, luxury and sustainability intersect through a commitment to exquisite design and environmental responsibility. We incorporate sustainable practices into high-end projects by using environmentally responsible materials, optimising energy efficiency, and reducing waste. We have founded the Allect ESG Lab, which is an employee led team of designers and architects whose creative collective thought will inspire change and embed innovative sustainable practices into our luxury designs. By partnering with shareholders, artisans and suppliers who share our values, we create beautiful, timeless spaces that uphold both luxurious standards and environmental stewardship. This holistic approach allows us to deliver exceptional, more sustainable luxury that meets the needs of discerning clients and the planet.
What do you believe are the biggest sustainability related challenges for Allect in the future?
As a multi-disciplinary design and delivery studio, our biggest challenge is onboarding all our suppliers with our sustainability initiatives and the subsequent governance. We have built great relationships with many suppliers and have key signatories to our code of conduct and we take our time to catalogue sustainable initiatives. However, we acknowledge that some suppliers may face challenges in sharing information, data collection, resource constraints or a lack of reflection on its importance.Initiating dialogues with our suppliers is key; sharing information, and fostering a positive collaborative experience are integral to encouraging and supporting a changemaker mindset and subsequent practical implementation. Just as we rely on our suppliers to help realise our visions, our commitment to making a positive impact on the world involves them as key partners. While it may seem like a daunting task, we want to build on the supplier contribution to our carbon footprint assessments and our sustainability initiatives going forward.
To someone who is less familiar with Allect Design Group, how would you describe Rigby & Rigby, Lawson Robb, and Helen Green Design Studio in relation to a person, object, or landmark?
Helen Green Design Studio is like a bespoke couture gown – elegantly tailored and a timeless classic, where every stitch reflects meticulous craftsmanship and artistry. Rigby & Rigby is like a fine watch: purposeful with hidden technology and attention to detail. And Lawson Robb is like the Guggenheim museum in Venice – a building that holds the same values we strive to create – a structure that is informed and immersed in history. It is part of a real story, it harbours its own beauty whilst also creating an environment to preserve beauty in multiple forms for generations to come.
