JEWELLERY & WATCHES
MATILDE
MATILDE launched in 2020 and is an eponymous fine jewellery brand by Matilde Mourinho. The brand launched to inspire a change within an industry that has a devastating impact on some of the planet’s most fragile ecosystems and communities. Using only recycled gold and lab-grown diamonds, more sustainable packaging, and transparent processes, MATILDE cuts out intermediaries to keep the pieces as affordable and accessible as they possibly can be. All pieces are crafted from 14-carat 100% recycled gold and lab-grown diamonds.

REAL CHANGE IN ACTION
SUSTAINABLE SOURCING & CIRCULAR ECONOMY
MATILDE focuses on sustainable sourcing practices by prioritising recycled gold and SCS recycled content certified precious metals. MATILDE also embraces the sourcing of lab-grown diamonds by partnering with suppliers who provide full grading reports from the International Gemological Institute. This ensures transparency and consumer confidence in the quality and origin of their diamonds. Incorporating these practices into the MATILDE supply chain, not only contributes to environmental conservation but also actively engages in a circular economy by reusing, reducing and recycling materials.
CLIMATE
MATILDE recognises the urgent need to address climate change and its impact on the planet. Through their corporate citizenship, MATILDE ensures to take significant steps towards mitigating its carbon footprint and transitioning to a sustainable future. As a first step, MATILDE has conducted a carbon footprint assessment to gain a thorough understanding of its environmental impact. Following this, MATILDE pledges to set emission reduction targets, prioritise renewable energy sources, collaborate closely with suppliers and educate employees.
DIVERSITY, EQUALITY AND INCLUSION
MATILDE has implemented a comprehensive diversity, equality, and inclusion (DE&I) policy that prioritises equal opportunities, representation, and a supportive work environment for employees of all backgrounds. The brand recognises that diversity fosters innovation and enhances the company's overall performance. MATILDE main manufacturer shares the same values by having an extensive Equal Employment policy that applies to all areas from employment from recruitment to transfers and compensation. Moreover, MATILDE has established a Sustainable Sourcing Strategy and Supplier Code of Conduct that outlines the expectations suppliers must meet on labour practices, including fair wages, working hours, opportunities for growth and DE&I.

A WORD FROM THE FOUNDER
The more I started learning about the jewellery industry, the more I realised how little I knew about where my pieces came from. And the more aware of the environmental and social harms the mining industry continuously causes, the harder it was for me to turn a blind eye. This is why I created MATILDE.
