REAL CHANGE IN ACTION
ENVIRONMENT
Since 2016, Le Grand Bellevue has been working toward energy resource optimisation and reduction of carbon emissions across Scope 1 direct emissions. Its current target is to cut greenhouse gas emissions by total of 246 tonnes CO2 eq by 2024. Currently the hotel uses 100% hydropower and offers electric vehicle charging on site. For their waste management strategy, Le Grand Bellevue’s has adopted the concept of reduce, reuse, recycle with clear guidelines for waste reduction and disposal for each hotel department. Working together with their suppliers, the hotel has set a target to eliminate all secondary packaging and through integration of hotel service app available to all guests, Le Grand Bellevue has significantly reduced its use of forest-based materials throughout the hotel and its food and beverage outlets.
GOVERNANCE
Le Grand Bellevue has implemented a rigorous sustainable purchasing policy guiding all its sourcing decisions. The hotel sources forest stewardship council (FSC) certified paper products that supports resilience and regeneration of forests around the world. To ensure sustainable supply chains of all food sources for their restaurants, the hotel chooses fair trade, bio and organic food producers and suppliers. Seafood sourced for the hotel is Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and Aquatic Stewardship council (ASC) certified with strong environmental sustainability and social responsibility credentials. Le Grand Bellevue prioritises purchasing of small-scale local farmers to ensure freshness of food, to limit the distance travelled in turn lowering their carbon footprint, supporting local farmer communities and improving its overall supply chain visibility by keeping it as short as possible.
SOCIAL
Le Grand Bellevue is an equal rights, fair labour and fair pay employer with a zero-tolerance policy against all forms of violence and harassment. The hotel ensures all employees gain access to the YourGstaad community membership programme which provides access to career development opportunities, housing, training as well as other private community events and engagement initiatives. Le Grand Bellevue supports several local NGOs and charities including Sapo Cycle, a non-profit collecting all of their discarded soaps to turn them into life-saving products and provide employment to people with disabilities. In 2022, Le Grand Bellevue continued its support for Plusport with a donation of 5000 Swiss Francs, promoting health, sports and overall wellbeing for people with physical impairments.

A WORD FROM THE OWNER
My wife and I met at the opening night of the Gstaad Yacht Club (the club is located on the property). Seven years later we hosted our wedding brunch there. To acquire the hotel seems to have had a further play on destiny, and my conviction for the success of this property.
