REAL CHANGE IN ACTION
PACKAGING EFFICIENCY
KNESKO has incorporated recycled and recyclable packaging into its product design, with 100% recycled plastic for its mask trays and recyclable aluminium sachets. Its gemstone-infused serums are packaged in recycled glass bottles. The brand has also incorporated FSC-certified paper products for its box sleeves and product information. KNESKO face masks are designed to be biodegradable and can be dissolved in the bathtub and used further by the consumer, prolonging product use and efficiency and reducing post-consumer waste. The brand’s consumer secondary packaging also has clear recycling instructions for proper disposal and reuse. KNESKO has set targets to reduce its use of virgin materials, packaging by volume, and transit packaging, and aims to use more recycled packaging and soy-based ink printing by 2025.
SUSTAINABILITY PURPOSE
KNESKO’s leadership team owns and is responsible for driving its sustainability purpose and agenda. The brand’s purpose is communicated to the entire team and to key suppliers, which are signatories to its comprehensive Codes of Conduct focused on sustainability principles. KNESKO also communicates its sustainability purpose to its consumers through sharing it on its website, transparently listing the ingredients in its products, communicating about the recyclability and biodegradability of its packaging, and educating the consumer on its beauty innovation. KNESKO’s sustainability purpose is evidenced further through its community involvement strategy, by donations to initiatives like Women’s Earth Alliance and Ventura Land Trust, and targets to invest further in youth empowerment and local and global environmental stewardship.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
Through a comprehensive Employee Handbook that includes policies on topics such as training and development, non-discrimination, anti-harassment, grievance resolution procedures, and prohibition of child labour and forced or compulsory labour, KNESKO upholds principles of good people management. KNESKO monitors and evaluates its workers’ satisfaction and engagement, has adopted open-book management and reviews employee input mechanisms regularly. In its warehousing facilities, KNESKO ensures proper training and evaluation is given to its staff, health and safety precautions are embedded and shift feedback and training evaluation from staff is taken into account. KNESKO gives its employees access to training, both role-specific and cross-skills, as well as on topics like DE&I and Environmental Health & Safety. Leadership reviews its organisational policies regularly and ensures they are communicated to all people within the organisation.
