SUSTAINABILITY PURPOSE

Reclaimed wood, bamboo, recycled metal, cork, and jute fibres are just some of the high-quality materials that can be seamlessly integrated into striking interior designs. Wherever possible, natural fibres are specified, with wool, mohair, cotton, linen, jute, cashmere, sisal, and bamboo preferred for their sustainability and health benefits over synthetic alternatives. The brand prioritises supplier relationships, partnering with companies that embed sustainability within their manufacturing processes. Open dialogue is encouraged to drive continuous environmental progress and responsible practices. Efforts to minimise waste include careful sampling, precise measuring, and mindful energy and material use. Where possible, existing properties are refurbished to preserve their original character while adapting them for contemporary use. Skilled craftspeople are employed to upcycle, French polish, reupholster, paint, or stain furniture, ensuring longevity and reducing waste. Antiques are incorporated where appropriate, further lowering environmental impact by minimising the carbon footprint.

ANIMAL WELFARE

=

Katharine Pooley successfully integrated a comprehensive animal welfare policy, aligned with industry best practices, to strengthen responsible sourcing across the supply chain. The company has partnered with suppliers that uphold high standards of animal welfare, with supplier compliance verified through recognised animal welfare certifications, i.e., according to the ICEC model, ensuring transparency and accountability. As a result, the initiative improved ethical sourcing practices, reduced welfare-related risks, and reinforced Katharine Pooley’s core purpose to sustainability and responsible supply chain management.

WASTE MANAGEMENT

Katharine Pooley developed and implemented a waste management policy for its internal operations to drive a long-term transition toward responsible waste management. Clear milestones were established, including halving total waste generation by 2030 and achieving zero waste to landfill by 2040. By embedding accountability across all levels and continuously monitoring performance, the policy not only reduces environmental impact but also strengthens operational efficiency and reinforces the company’s commitment to responsible, future-focused growth.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Katharine Pooley established strategic partnerships with charities, NGOs, and local businesses to amplify its social and environmental impact while fostering shared value within the communities it operates. By working closely with trusted external partners, the organisation strengthened community relationships, supported local economies, and ensured that its initiatives delivered measurable, long-term benefits beyond its own operations.

SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT

A Supplier Code of Conduct was integrated to clearly communicate Katharine Pooley’s sustainability expectations initially to its key suppliers. This framework sets out the company’s standards related to environmental responsibility, ethical labour practices, health and safety, and compliance with applicable regulations, ensuring suppliers align with Katharine Pooley’s values and long-term sustainability goals. By formally embedding these guidelines into procurement processes and supplier relationships, the company promotes transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement, while reducing risk and encouraging responsible practices that extend sustainability impacts beyond its direct operations.
