SUSTAINABLE INGREDIENTS

Irene Forte Positive Luxury

Irene Forte Skincare recognises the powerful properties of plants and fruits and therefore strives to protect nature and ensure a positive impact on the environment. Most ingredients are sourced from their own organic farm in Sicily where thousands of new plants are planted each year, rainwater is harvested, and renewable energy is derived from solar panels. Formulations also include upcycled ingredients made from nutrient-rich plant-based leftovers such as, Olive Seed Oil made from discarded pits, to ensure no waste is created. Additionally, Irene Forte Skincare maintains a Restricted Substances List which is compliant with EU REACH, California Proposition 65 and US FDA.

SUSTAINABLE SOURCING

Irene Forte Positive Luxury

From natural ingredients to sustainable palm wood packaging, all production is based in Italy and exclusively produced by local Italian artisans. Irene Forte Skincare maintains visibility and records of all its Tier 1 suppliers by having a supplier Code of Conduct, a supplier Application Form and a supplier on-boarding procedure. These formalised policies set the minimum standard of business behaviour expected in areas including ethical dealings, health and safety, environment, animal welfare and human rights. Constructive supplier relationships have allowed Irene Forte Skincare to engage and work with suppliers on various sustainability initiatives. These include, ensuring fulfilment houses only use recycled materials when packing products and verifying their carpenter supplier in Puglia strictly uses sustainable local olive wood to produce spatulas for products.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

During its re-certification journey, Irene Forte Skincare has worked on various formalised Human Resources policies to ensure good people management and improve overall performance and satisfaction. From diversity, equality and inclusion policies to appraisal forms and employee induction presentations, Irene Forte Skincare ensures that people are treated equally, fairly and ethically, while providing a healthy environment, physically and emotionally. Irene Forte Skincare’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy also states future goals for people management such as, implementing internal team health check-ups, supplementary health insurance and increasing access to external training programmes.

PATHWAY TO HIGHER STANDARDS

They have recently launched their charity partnership with The Lady Garden Foundation, which aims to raise funds to extend and improve gynaecological health; and arm women and girls with the knowledge they need to break down the taboos that surround the topic. £1.50 for every Pomegranate Hand Cream sold globally is donated to the charity. Additionally, all 30ml and 50ml products will be refillable by mid-2022. They have calculated their carbon footprint and have the Carbon Footprint Standard Accreditation; they are now working towards becoming carbon neutral by 2030. Other prospective projects include a water equal scheme and the establishment of a social farm in Verdura.
