FORBES & LOMAX

Forbes & Lomax has been producing elegant and innovative light switches and sockets for nearly four decades. Renowned for pioneering The Invisible Lightswitch®, it has always prioritised aesthetic design in lighting control. The Forbes & Lomax collection includes nine carefully chosen finishes, each suitable for traditional and contemporary interiors, making it the brand of choice for top interior designers and architects. The range includes push buttons and dolly switches, which seamlessly integrate with intelligent lighting control and home automation systems. It also provides bespoke engraving services.

SUSTAINABILITY PURPOSE

Forbes & Lomax is committed to continuously learning, adapting and improving their impact on the environment. Their switches and sockets are designed to stand the test of time – durable, high-quality and timeless – they are built to last. They strive to make sustainable choices without compromising the core design and integrity of their products. From the water-based tape that seals their boxes to the outer sleeves that protect their products in transit, all their packaging is made from recycled materials. Their Perspex plates for the Invisible Lightswitch® are crafted from 100% recycled plastic, using Greencast® sheets made from waste and scrap that would otherwise end up in landfill. They are proud of their long-standing British heritage and hold the official Made in Britain mark. All their products are assembled by hand at their UK workshop, using locally sourced components wherever possible to reduce our carbon footprint. Sustainability, quality, and heritage are at the heart of everything they do.

REAL CHANGE IN ACTION

BIODIVERSITY

The brand has conducted a thorough assessment of its raw materials to understand both biodiversity impacts and dependencies arising from its supply chain decisions. This process involved not only analysing the origins and extraction methods of key materials, but also engaging with suppliers to identify and map out potential drivers of biodiversity loss, such as habitat destruction or pollution relating to specific resources. Based on these findings, the company has put forward a strategy that integrates corrective actions such as increasing recycled content, seeking alternatives to resource-intensive materials, and working closely with suppliers to reduce its impact on biodiversity and support long-term environmental resilience.

HUMAN RIGHTS & MODERN SLAVERY

Forbes & Lomax has established a human rights and modern slavery policy to serve as a foundational safeguard for the company’s operations and supply chain. By developing this policy, the brand demonstrates a clear commitment to upholding ethical principles, protecting individuals from exploitation, and ensuring its practices align with international standards. This proactive approach helps to future-proof the business against any potential risks related to human rights violations, laying the groundwork for responsible growth and strengthening stakeholder trust over time.

SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT

Forbes & Lomax has developed an in-depth supplier code of conduct that clearly communicates the company’s expectations and values around sustainability, responsible sourcing, and ethical practices to all suppliers. This code of conduct has been distributed to key suppliers, making sustainability a central pillar of supplier collaboration and engagement. By setting these standards, Forbes & Lomax has created a culture of continuous improvement and shared responsibility with its partners to ensure that both environmental and ethical considerations are intertwined in its procurement processes.
