SUSTAINABLE SOURCING

Maison Courvoisier’s commitment to sustainability is especially evident through its meticulous local sourcing practices and its transparent supply chain. Based in Jarnac, the heart of France’s Cognac region, the brand’s provenance is not only essential to its brand identity but also its ingredients and sourcing. Courvoisier's in-house production facilities have implemented global sourcing practices and are committed to safeguarding human rights and labor standards. Throughout the supply chain, Courvoisier, a subsidiary of Beam Suntory, continues to oversee and reduce scope 1,2 and 3 emissions in line with group-level objectives, preserving biodiversity, emphasizing consumer choices, and providing support to local communities. In addition to sustainability, the cognac house maintains transparency across its supply chain. The brand carries out verified third-party ethical audits with suppliers, and every bottle is labeled for traceability and regulatory purposes.

BIODIVERSITY

Maison Courvoisier is based in Jarnac, France, a place known for its natural beauty. The Cognac region has inspired the house for generations, so protecting the local environment is a guiding principle for the brand. Courvoisier’s estates and facilities, including the harvesting and distillation processes, for example, are certified by the French government’s “La Haute Valeur Environnementale,” the highest environmental and biodiversity-based government certification standard. The certification shows that the brand adheres to strict processes to protect the local ecosystem and to mitigate impact on local water sources, flora and fauna, and soil. Courvoisier has also earned the French Cognac environmental certification which signifies the various steps Courvoisier takes to restore biodiversity. Examples include Courvoisier’s commitment to sustainable forest management, regenerative soil cultivation of grains, and extensive tree planning to offset those harvested for barrels.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

While Maison Courvoisier is synonymous with France, the brand has supporters around the world. To give back, Courvoisier has created a number of initiatives to support its global community. One standout program is the philanthropic platform, Foundation 1828, which was created to empower small business owners and entrepreneurs in underserved populations worldwide through financial and educational support. In 2020, Foundation 1828 pledged to donate $1 million toward supporting black and minority small business owners and entrepreneurs. The cognac house aims to expand this support globally in other key markets. Also in the U.S., Maison Courvoisier has established a multi-year partnership with prominent civil rights organization, the National Urban League, which focuses on supporting underserved urban communities. Committed to community values, Courvoisier has established a remarkable partnership with L'Arche, demonstrating its ongoing dedication to the Jarnac community. This collaboration entails the annual employment of L'Arche members including offering them valuable opportunities to work within Courvoisier's bottling plant as well as serving as partners for various local events, such as the Jarnac Marathon. This enduring partnership with L'Arche underscores the unwavering commitment to promoting social and community engagement.
