Sonia Petroff is a luxury accessories brand inspired by nature. The company recently re-launched in 2018 in tribute to the late designer and her timeless, opulent creations. All of their collections are handmade in Italy.
Sonia Petroff was a highly respected accessories designer in the 1950s, right up to her retirement in the late 1980s. She established her own brand and also worked as a private jewellery designer for many of the great fashion houses, including Valentino, Balmain and Nina Ricci.
Upon Sonia’s death in 2015, an entire 800-piece archive was discovered by her nephew Elio and his wife Maria Leoni-Sceti. Maria with her creative spirit decided to relaunch the opulent jewellery brand in 2018 to continue the legacy and pay tribute to Sonia Petroff herself.
After spending months going through Sonia’s archive and cataloguing all of the previous collections, Maria knew it was time to reawaken Sonia’s vision. All the pieces have been updated and tweaked with a contemporary edge, while still embodying a flamboyant, 1970s style. Sonia Petroff’s aesthetic is deeply rooted in the abundant colours and forms of nature, culminating in beautifully chic and delicately crafted jewellery pieces.
Sonia Petroff was re-launched around the principles of slow fashion – to promote longevity and transcend seasons. All of their creations are handcrafted in Italy by talented artisans in small quantities to avoid any unnecessary waste. Being a responsible business is very important to the brand and they are continually reviewing how they can minimise their footprint and create even more of a positive impact.
