Transparency And Authenticity Are Key Ingredients In Luxury And Theyre No Longer Negotiable
Social Environmental Responsibility
– Striving to lead by example, developing environmentally responsible initiatives and assuring our customers of the excellence of our production facilities and practices. The president of Hennessy has mandated the environmental policy which declares Hennessy’s commitment to the environment. Hennessy’s proactive approach has afforded marked success in water and energy reduction as well as waste recycling and management.
– By auditing their water requirements thoroughly and frequently through regular readings of more than 70 water meters, Hennessy has crafted a global policy to manage and reduce our water consumption. Renovations of our water distribution systems and the conversion of the cooling systems at our distilleries to closed circuits have reduced our distilleries’ water consumption by 90%. Thanks to recovery tanks, Hennessy collects and stores storm water that satisfies, in part, the water requirements of our vineyards. These initiatives have enabled a 25% reduction in water consumption since 2007.
– Effluent treatment and waste valorisation. All human activities produce waste, which must be subsequently treated to reduce its environmental impact. Hennessy analyses all effluents so that they may be relayed to the most appropriate treatment facilities. Since the 1970s, in cognac, distillation residue (called ‘vinasses’) are treated via methanisation, in partnership with REVICO, resulting in de-pollution by 98% and biogas production which generate the green energy that heats the city of Cognac’s greenhouses and produces electricity through cogeneration. Its waste is recycled on average with more than 85% by material or energy recovery.
