Since its founding in 2004, Bamford has championed a vision of sustainable luxury rooted in harmony with nature and conscious living. Guided by founder Carole Bamford’s four decades of commitment to responsible practices, the brand continues to redefine what it means to create with integrity, care and respect for the planet. In this edition of Behind the Butterfly we speak with Bamford about their new collection From the Fields, their approach to regenerative farming, and how innovation and circularity remain at the heart of their philosophy.
. . .
For those less familiar, how would you describe Bamford and the brand’s ethos?
Founded in 2004 by Carole Bamford, the brand was born from a vision to champion sustainable and mindful living, a commitment she has nurtured for over four decades. Our philosophy is simple yet profound: to live consciously, in harmony with nature, and to honour the resources the earth provides. Everything we do and create reflects the belief that luxury is defined by quality, integrity, and care for both people and the planet.
Can you tell us about your new collection and what makes it special?
From the Fields celebrates the land and the resources it provides. From apparel to Home and Pet items, this capsule embodies circular luxury, with a fully transparent supply chain that remains entirely on British soil. Crafted from homegrown British merino wool and cattle hides sourced from our farm, each piece reimagines materials that were once underutilised.

Bamford has always celebrated natural fibres and artisanal craft. How does working with your own merino wool and leather deepen that philosophy?
Working with our own Merino flock and cattle allows us to control every step of the production process, from farm to finished product; an approach that ensures both quality and transparency. Our wool is processed and spun in Cornwall, then knitted in London and Nottingham, keeping our carbon footprint minimal. We partnered with British Pasture Leather to produce our leather, fully utilising hides reclaimed from our farm. Each hide is vegetable tanned and finished by a network of skilled British makers, which enables us to trace the entirety of the supply chain.
What role does regenerative farming play in your approach to material sourcing, and how does it contribute to the wider conversation on circular luxury?
Regenerative farming at Daylesford Farm inspired the From the Fields collection. Our organic farming methods and carefully managed grazing practices produce materials that are natural and inherently sustainable. This approach supports our circular philosophy, ensuring that every fibre and hide, sourced from animals reared on our farm is cultivated responsibly, processed locally, and transformed into products that honour both the land and the people who care for it. The collection reflects our belief that true luxury and responsible sourcing go hand in hand.
How are you approaching innovation in your collections to balance luxury, functionality and sustainability?
Our company purpose is to inspire conscious living that protects our planet and enhances wellbeing. Guided by nature and a commitment to sustainability, our brilliant team ensures everything we do aligns with this ethos. We aim to drive innovation through circular economy principles and responsible sourcing. Every product we create reflects an ambition to ensure minimal environmental impact through recyclable packaging, strong supplier partnerships, community and enduring design and craftsmanship.
Finally, how has working with Positive Luxury and earning Butterfly Mark certification changed or informed your approach to your sustainability journey?
Our sustainability team uses the Positive Luxury framework to set both the agenda and strategy, ensuring we take a structured approach. The assessment process has strengthened our policies and encouraged us to examine every aspect of our operations, which has consistently pushed us to raise the bar.
