REDUCING IMPACT THROUGH DESIGN – DAVID COLLINS STUDIO
November, 2024
A DESIGN-LEVEL FOCUS ON REDUCING ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS
PILLARS: ENVIRONMENT
MATERIAL DRIVERS: CLIMATE, WASTE
THE CHALLENGE
Establishing a credible and deliverable framework, including tangible targets for impact reduction, that would resonate with clients, partners and other stakeholders.
ACTIONS
Working with Positive Luxury, David Collins Studio established a 2023 baseline for Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions and waste. This enabled it to:
Develop a sustainability-based materials library to guide decision-making
Set a 25% reduction target in carbon and waste by 2025
Switch to renewable energy sources
Adopt sustainable travel practices
Gold standard carbon offset (100% of business operations emissions per year)
Internal training on ESG, employee barometer and expansion of materials library
Set clear targets to eliminate all waste to landfill by 2026 and be a Net Zero business by 2050
RESULT As a direct result of its actions, whilst undergoing Positive Luxury’s ESG assessment, David Collins Studio was able to see significant, tangible improvements in both its Climate and Waste performance measures.
