We kicked off our new webinar series, The Power Series, in March. Yesterday, our episode, called The Power of Action, went live with insight from three amazing thought leaders. In this episode, the founder of Forum for the Future and author Jonathon Porritt will talk us through his new book, ‘Hope in Hell: A decade to confront the climate emergency’ and, the actions we can take now to secure a safer world for generations to come.
Jonathan began by talking about his newly launched book ‘Hope in Hell: A decade to confront the climate emergency’ and the meaning behind the title.
Diana, who had previously read the book, asked about the “Consequences for the rest of the century” chapter in the book, and asked Jonathan what businesses should do now in response to that chapter.
“What that means is that we dont do anything anything serious about climate change. We are not actually getting into grips with the actual crises.” Jonathan said “This is why I urge people to do business as unusual.”
Positive Luxury’s CEO then asked Jonathan to explain more about what he meant by the expression “business as unusual”
“You have to be a lot more curious about the natural world and what is happening in that natural world.” he said “Just think about the natural world. (…) There are not enough business leaders that are curious about the natural world. Our first advice is get curious: find out about this stuff and bring in into your scope.”
The conversation continued between Diana and Jonathan who discussed Hope in Hell and how businesses should research more about climate change and the actions they are undertaken for a better future.
The conversation then moved on to the Q&A. For more from each of our amazing panellists, including advice and the Q&A responses, watch the entire webinar by clicking on the button below. Then, register for the next episode in the webinar series on Thursday, 16th of July, The Power of “Plastic Rehab”.
