Positive Luxury Awards 2020
A global celebration of sustainability and innovation within the luxury industry. The awards, which are open to all luxury brands, recognise companies or individuals that are working towards affecting positive change in businesses and our world.
Positive Luxury connects luxury brands and people who care about the future through the Butterfly Mark, a symbol of trust earned by brands that have adopted sustainability as a business strategy, offering transparency and equipping people to make informed purchasing decisions.
Judged by an expert panel, the awards will be held in February 2020 in London.
Sponsored by Rakuten, this award recognises the luxury brand that has pushed the boundaries and proved that sustainable development can have a measurable positive impact on the planet, people and profit. Sustainability needs to be evident throughout all aspects of their business – from product/service design, supply chain, packaging and ethical practices and be evidenced in all five of the Positive Luxury assessment areas (innovation, social and environmental framework, community investment and governance.)
The judges are looking for an inspirational brand that has made positive impacts in the world, but also within its own organisation, shaping and supporting a corporate culture where sustainability is embedded into the fabric of the business. They will also be looking for those brands with an inspiring vision and commitment to building on their success in the future. The winner of this award will be selected by the judging panel.
This award recognises the intention of young brands in the luxury industry to build sustainability into their journeys from inception. The judges are looking for evidence of how brands have demonstrated their commitment to enhancing their future performance in all five of the Positive Luxury assessment areas (innovation, social and environmental framework, community investment and governance), with particular interest in those that are playing a leading role in driving innovation through the development of new products and services and/or the pioneering of sustainable business and operating models. As a breakthrough brand, the judges will be focusing on the vision, intention and road-map towards sustainability excellence. The winner of this award will be selected by the judging panel.
This award recognises the brand that has in the past year demonstrated outstanding results in positive environmental impact. The judges will be looking for evidence of how brands have improved their environmental performance within their own operations, supply chain and logistical operations. From waste, water and CO2 management to biodiversity protection and alternatives to animal testing, the award will spotlight the very best in environmentally-responsible business and will pay particular attention to those brands with an inspiring vision and commitment to building on their success in the future. The winner of this award will be selected by the judging panel.
This award recognises the luxury brand that has pioneered genuine circular economy thinking while curbing waste levels and creating circular resource flows in accordance with the waste hierarchy. The judges are looking for truly innovative projects that have demonstrated the viability of circular economy models and services and that have delivered broader financial and competitive benefits to an organisation or community while engaging a range of stakeholders with circular economy issues in the process. The winner of this award will be selected by the judging panel.
This award recognises creative marketing communications campaigns designed to engage, educate and inspire action around sustainability. The judges are looking for highly effective, creative campaigns that have helped to measurably enhance awareness of the complex challenges and opportunities associated with sustainability. They are particularly looking for campaigns that reach out to new, wider audiences and make sustainability accessible and easily understood. The winner of this award will be selected by the judging panel.
This award recognises the brand that has revolutionised sustainability in the luxury market through innovation. The judges are looking for a true innovator – one that’s taken an entirely new approach to their service, product, technology or business model and has improved their social and/or environmental performance as a result while also offering large scale improvements internally and externally. The winner of this award will be selected by the judging panel.
This award recognises the brand that has achieved the most effective results through philanthropic investment in the community. Whether via charitable partnerships, their own foundation, community development projects or social equality programmes, the judges will be looking for the very best examples of socially-responsible business initiatives for people, wildlife and the natural world. The winner of this award will be selected by the judging panel.
Sponsored by Baker McKenzie, this award recognises the business leader within the luxury industry who has used their position to truly push the boundaries of sustainability performance. The judges will be looking to commend an inspiring leader, with a compelling vision, who has improved their organisation’s sustainability impacts across all of the five Positive Luxury assessment areas in the last year, while also taking steps to embed a culture of sustainability into the fabric of their organisation. The winner of this award will be selected by the judging panel.
This award recognises a retailer whose commitment to sustainability across all five of the Positive Luxury assessment areas (innovation, social and environmental framework, community investment and governance) has delivered tangible positive results. In addition to the operations of the retailer, the judges will be looking for evidence of how they use their influence and power through the selection of partners/brands and thereby drive sustainability through e.g. product offerings, staff training, education and engagement, marketing collateral, logistics, providence information, packaging and e-commerce.
With this award, the judges will be looking to commend an inspiring leader who has, over the course of their career, demonstrated not just their deep personal and professional commitment to sustainability by driving change within their own organisations, but who, through their enduring advocacy, has been instrumental in driving positive environmental and social change on a global scale.
