To speak about fragrance is to speak of memory and experience and love. LUMIRA celebrates the beauty of the world around us through the art of scent, with a range of niche luxury fragrances for the self and for the home.
Creative director Almira Armstrong founded LUMIRA in 2013 in Sydney, Australia, with a vision of bringing a bold and unique approach to fragrance creation. Having launched with just four candles, the range has since expanded to include gender-neutral perfume oils, interior scents, and a luxurious collection of parfum.
A pervading sense of wanderlust infuses the entire LUMIRA range, as each of the scents is inspired by a specific destination. The fragrance not only distils the olfactory cues of a locale, it also seeks to capture and interpret some of the ambience that makes each place so profoundly special.
With a focus on place and a desire to create a considered and inspiring environment for its customers, the company’s goal is one of sustainable growth through a respect for people and the environment, both now and into the future.
Armstrong has personally spearheaded the company’s commitment to the environment, and launched a formal Sustainability Policy in 2019. She chooses to only partner with suppliers and organisations who have undertaken a similar commitment.
All LUMIRA products are proudly made in Australia using the finest luxury and sustainable ingredients. Whether for the home or the self, these are uncommon scents for the sophisticated fragrance aficionado.

Impact and Commitment
ENVIRONMENTAL FRAMEWORK – INGREDIENT SOURCING
LUMIRA candles use only natural vegetable (soy) wax, which has a cleaner burn and less smoke compared with many other wax types. The essential oils that give each candle and perfume oil its unique scent are ethically sourced.
ENVIRONMENTAL FRAMEWORK – RECYCLING AND REUSING
Each vessel uses a coloured through glass, which is 100% recyclable. LUMIRA also encourages its customers to reuse the glass candle jars around the house. Alternatively, LUMIRA offers a take-back scheme and recycles the empty candle jars. All cardboard packaging and materials are 100% recyclable. The head office in Sydney, Australia, recycles all possible materials, and has substantially reduced its amount of single-use plastic. A zero plastic waste target is in place for December 2019.
ENVIRONMENTAL FRAMEWORK – BIODIVERSITY PRESERVATION AND COMMUNITY
In 2018, LUMIRA launched a three-year collaboration with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney. Under this scheme, LUMIRA creates candles inspired by the beauty and wonder of the Gardens and proceeds from the sales are donated directly to the Gardens to support their conservation work.
SOCIAL FRAMEWORK – FAIR LABOUR
LUMIRA only partners with suppliers and business who can take a strong ethical responsibility to human rights. All suppliers have their own Responsible Sourcing Policies that set high standards for health and safety, environmental, business integrity and social practices. LUMIRA follows the Fair Work Ombudsman, an independent statutory agency of the Government of Australia that promotes harmonious, productive and cooperative workplace relations and educates employers about fair work practices.
HALCYON HOUSE X LUMIRA is the latest collaboration with Australian resort Halcyon House. Inspired by the tranquil, carefree days of Australian summers passed, this signature scent captures the essence of the luxury travel destination on the NSW mid-north coast.
In November 2019, LUMIRA launches the second in a trilogy of scents in collaboration with the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney. It takes as its starting point the spectacular Mount Tomah Gardensin the Blue Mountains, just west of Sydney, Australia. All proceeds from the sale of this candle are donated directly to the Gardens to support their conservation work.
