Certified by Cosmos organic as 100% organic Inlight Beauty purely use plant-based ingredients and handcraft their beauty products in house from crushing the herbs and flowers, distilling, extracting to filling the glass bottles. We felt it was important to go through the recertification process to maintain (and reinforce) our transparency as a business, but also as an incentive to keep improving, working towards personal and global goals.

MEMBERSHIPS & ACCREDITATIONS

From its inception in 2007, Inlight Beauty committed to only ever producing the finest organic & natural products. To maintain the purity of their formulation, the team source and produce 100% Organic COSMOS certified products to ensure the ingredients are free from pesticides, fertilisers and GM contamination. This certification ensures its products are free from chemicals and synthetics of concern. All products are produced in their lab in Cornwall, UK, including their in-house bases (herbal oils) where the team maintain strict standards and procedures to ensure all materials within the building are approved and certified by established governing bodies such as Soil Association, ICEA, Certis and EcoCert. This includes cleaning products etc. Inlight is also certified as cruelty free under the Leaping Bunny programme. The Leaping Bunny is the best assurance that a brand is genuinely committed to removing animal testing from its supply chain. ISO 9001:2015 international standards guarantees best business practices, auditing quality management system and traceability.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

On their re-certification journey, Inlight Beauty focused on taking its ethos and team commitment from actions into an extensive employee handbook and enhancing the performance feedback approach for staff. As a small company they understand that the success of their business is ‘built by creative, productive employees who are encouraged to make suggestions while thinking “outside the box”’, and this now forms the opening of their 80+ page induction employee handbook. To ensure this is received and engaged with, staff are required to sign the handbook when they join the company and to ensure relevancy and adaptability, this policy document is reviewed regularly.

Whilst undergoing re-certification, Inlight Beauty conducted trainings and encouraged webinar attendance for the team across a variety of ESG factors including unconscious bias, plastic tax and product development training. Through this programme and the broader company cultural focus on sustainable decision making, Inlight Beauty guarantees that its business strategies and targets are centred on its commitment to sustainability. Inlight Beauty’s COSMOS certification has ensured that 100% of their supply chain adheres to a stringent Code of Ethics, which mandate fair operating practices and adherence to human rights and environmental standards. Through the strength of the relationships with their suppliers, they have a platform to share their purpose and values and guarantee their suppliers adhere to their standards for sustainability. Visibility is key in the supply chain and Inlight Beauty can trace products back to the source, ensuring their raw material sourcing such as botanical ingredients, are mitigating potential pollution and adverse biodiversity impacts.

WHERE NEXT?

Sustainability, purity and craftsmanship remains a mindful focus and commitment for Inlight Beauty as a business and for its customers. Inlight Beauty has been working with a new local carbon balanced supplier to further improve its recycled primary packaging boxes and are looking at new innovative materials for samples packs. The focus for the business will remain the tireless research on green chemistry to draw more from Nature without disturbing it.
