Our community on the first place they will be visiting after lockdown

After spending months under lockdown due to the global pandemic, countries are slowly easing back into what everyone call a “new normal” while restrictions are lifting. From visiting a local coffee shop, to spending a weekend at the seaside, we have asked our community about the first place they will be visiting after lockdown.

Monica Magdas Miller, CEO and Founder at Santicler

“The first place that I will be visiting after lockdown is my factory in Romania and I hope to get there in early August. I am a lot more effective when I work on the factory floor and I have the opportunity to review samples in real time. I plan to be there for several weeks so the weekends I will spend visiting the country and hopefully other parts of South-Eastern Europe like Bulgaria, Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia, and Greece.”

Almira Armstrong , Founder & Creative Director at Lumira

“We relocated to Los Angeles late last year, however with this unprecedented event we decided to head back to Sydney, Australia to be with family during this time.  I would say if I was in LA, the first place I would go to is Wally’s in Santa Monica – they have the most delicious selection of food and wine.  In Sydney, it would be Fratelli Paradiso or Mr Wong.  For travel, it is definitely Italy.  I have the Amalfi Coast and Sicily on my go to once things feel great again for travel.”

Virginia Stone, Founder at Virginia Stone

“The recent Covid crisis and quarantine measures implemented in our country, have reminded me and solidified just how important freedom is to: mental; emotional; physical; and spiritual wellbeing. For a free spirit like myself, being locked in a box and controlled by limiting rules has many challenges and diminishes the soul. I need to explore, travel, expand my horizons, and breathe. A return to Africa is top of my list, and a surf trip to Costa Rica is a close second. Either way, I will be spreading my wings to fly at the earliest opportunity.”

The Team, at Elephant Gin

“As soon as the bars reopen, we will be the first through the door to support their businesses, have a few drinks and celebrate having overcome this scary and surreal period of time! We are naturally all yearning to see our close friends and family, share some long overdue hugs and have a drink together.”

Bea Sanz Corella, Founder of Kmana

“As soon as we can travel again, we will be going home, to our beloved Mediterranean, where we belong. Can’t wait for the long summer days which smell of pine trees and sea salt, and which are often filled with animated (the Spanish way) patio table talks. This is our happy place”

Francisco Lagunas Hernández at Rusticae

“As soon as we’re ready to travel, I’m looking forward to joining a yoga retreat in any of the lovely Rusticae hotels which offer this activity, such as Paraiso Escondido in the Portuguese Alentejo or La Garriga de Castelladral in Catalonia (picture). Also, I can’t wait to eat the best Argentinian empanadas (typical pastries) in Rekons, in Barcelona. When I think about a travel destination, I’d love to come back to Berlin, a trip which I had to cancel due to the pandemic restrictions. We’ll get back to life!”

Sara Prentice, Creative Director at Garrard

“I’m very much looking forward to visiting Florabunda, the most exquisite flower stall located close to our flagship boutique on Albemarle Street. It always has the most beautiful, seasonal blooms on display, which are perfect for our in-store arrangements. Now that our boutique has reopened, I can’t think of a better way to welcome our clients.”

Livia Manca di Villahermosa, Founder of Balance Holidays

“When the time is right, the first place I would like to visit will be the local farmers market, Mercato di San Benedetto in Cagliari, Sardinia. Not only is it the largest farmers market in Europe and the best for finding fresh catches of the day and the land’s seasonal rewards honoured by Mother Nature. It is a place of community, a touch-point for local heritage, culture and education about the land and life around.”

Dominic Phillips, founder & Managing Director of Lola’s Apothecary

“I’m greatly looking forward to returning to the breath-taking island of Tresco, off the coast of Land’s End. As well as the glorious gardens I’ve been lucky enough to grow up amidst at Colleton Estate where we handmake our fragrant wellness wonders, the botanical Abby Gardens on Tresco have been hugely inspirational for me and Lola’s Apothecary.  A feast for the senses – it’s like visiting Kew Gardens without greenhouses and panoramic views over the Atlantic!”

Bav Tailor Founder of Bav Tailor

“Seeing my family first and foremost, as they are currently across the Indian ocean, will be my first visit, especially to devour my Mother’s delicious curry which I have truly missed. Time is ever so precious, and these moments of stillness has taught me the importance of always taking steps towards people and places that shine sunlight onto your day. Next stop, for sure my local café bistro for an energising Acai Bowl!”
