Editor’s pick: Stephen Webster Tequila Lore Tumbler
Although Stephen Webster is best known for the jaw-dropping jewellery he’s been producing for more than four decades, his design expertise goes beyond gem stones and gold. Case in point: the Tequila Lore collection. It’s a variety of bar tools and glassware inspired by Mexico’s culture, folklore and favourite spirit—tequila. Within this collection is this stunning engraved crystal tumbler. Read on to find out why it’s one of our favourite items, and why it might make a great gift.
What it is
Handblown in the UK by Dartington Crystal, the glass has a smokey finish and its engraved with a silver rattlesnake motif, inspired by Mexico’s coat of arms. It has a sister glass in amethyst, as well as matching shot glasses and an ice bucket if you really want to deck out your bar cart.
How it’s made
As with all Dartington glassware, the Tequila Lore Tumbler is made at the company’s Torrington factory by expert glassmakers. You can visit the factory and tour the space to see the glassblowers in action. The tumbler is then hand-engraved with genuine silver, and finished to the exacting standards Stephen Webster is known for.
Why we love it
Stephen Webster’s designs are ethically produced from sustainable materials, and the Tequila Lore tumbler is no different. Each piece from the collection is made to order, limiting wasted stock through the production process, and will last a lifetime if it’s properly cared for. In the case of the tumbler, that means a gentle hand wash. If it does chip, Dartington has an excellent repair program that can restore your tumbler for you.
