Wild Horse Clothing is a collection of brash fashionable boxer shorts branded ‘GOT WOOD’.

Anthony Abis, Managing Director of Wild Horse Clothing, loved the feeling of bamboo next to his skin. Researching the material further, he was impressed by its special properties: antibacterial, sustainable, and dispersing moisture.

Why bamboo? When spun into material, bamboo is incredibly luxurious in texture and weight. It is as soft as silk but with more of a cotton-like feel. Bamboo can absorb three times its weight in water and removes moisture from the skin so it can evaporate. For this reason, clothing made of bamboo fibre is ideal worn next to the skin, as sportswear, underwear, and clothing specifically for an active lifestyle.

Bamboo is a sustainable plant, which means that it replenishes itself rapidly and does not require special conditions to exist. In fact, bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants in the world. They are capable of growing over 100 cm (39 in) per day, due to its unique rhizome-dependent system. Rhizomes are a horizontal stem and route system which makes plants such as bamboo almost impossible to destroy. Even in the event of a land fire, the underground system would remain unharmed and the bamboo would begin to grow again immediately. Similarly, if a rhizome is cut into pieces, each piece is potentially able to give rise to a new plant. Bamboo thrives in its natural habitat without the need for pesticides or herbicides. As a result, plantations can be kept organic and replanted yearly to replenish stocks.
