After spending many years as a career woman, the birth of her son Alex prompted Shelley Henderson to take stock to think about what was important to her.

The answer was to spend as much time as possible with her son so the challenge was to find a new professional direction I could combine with motherhood.

During many conversations with friends, a common thread of frustration became apparent; they could not find gorgeous timeless accessories for their children’s rooms or toys that were reminiscent of their own childhood. Shelley wanted to buy things that will last a long time and are ‘for keeps’; things that her son will enjoy growing up with and one day pass on to the next generation

So after much research and thought, Shelley selected small, independent suppliers and designers with that little something different to offer. And Roobub & Custard was born.

Its aim is to provide original well crafted products that your children and you will cherish. It strives to offer products from fairtrade, organic and sustainable sources, supporting independent designers - many of whom are Mums just like Shelley.
