Denise Leicester, founder of Ila-Spa, has spent a lifetime exploring the dynamics of natural healing. A qualified nurse, aromatherapist and yogic healer, her hands-on experience extends from the rural communities of India to the Dubai royal family, and spans Eastern and South American healing traditions.
In 2005, following two decades investigating the medical, holistic and spiritual worlds, Denise developed a unique concept of skin wellbeing. From this came the idea of an absolutely pure product range created in harmony with nature and delivered with healing intent. She named the brand after the Hindu Goddess of Truth and the Sanskrit word for Earth: ila.
Denise spent the first 12 months of the company’s inception researching, travelling and sourcing the purest ingredients from the most ethical international farmers and growers. She then developed an infrastructure that functioned at the most sustainable level possible.
Reflecting their faith in the power of nature, Ila-Spa products contain only the finest natural plant and mineral ingredients, wild-harvested in remote, untainted regions by artisan producers.
Ila-Spa maintains the unique purity of each and every ingredient by using pure processes. Ila’s philosophy is to go beyond organic by embracing the utmost ethical integrity.
All products are free from synthetic chemicals and contain a rare level of what they term ‘natural energy’, achieved by sourcing the finest raw ingredients. These are then lovingly blended in Ila’s consciously converted barns in the English Cotswolds.
Ila invests in direct relationships and sustainable farming projects with indigenous communities. This currently includes the Berber Tribes of Morocco, the incense-makers of Matunga, India and the Hunza Tribe of Baltistan, Pakistan.
Ila has been featured in Vogue, Elle, Red, Glamour, Stylist, and Tatler’s Spa Guide 2012.
