Nest

Founder and CEO of Nest, Tony Fadell led the team that created the first 18 generations of the iPod and the first three generations of the iPhone. Hi co-founder, Matt Rogers was also involved with Apple and was responsible for iPod software development. Together they developed the Nest Learning Thermostat.

At Nest they believe that Technology should be about more than newest, loudest, prettiest. It should make a difference. You might not think an innocuous thing like a thermostat can make a difference, but it in fact controls half your energy bill. 89% of programmable thermostats waste energy—about £107 a year, on average. And they’re so complicated that most people don’t bother to program them.

Their solution is Nest, the thermostat that saves energy, automatically. All you need to do is change the temperature for a few days to teach Nest. After that Nest Sense™ learns about you and your home and starts activating features to save you more energy.

It learns every time you turn the ring to change your home’s temperature, so it will know how to keep you comfortable at night, and remembers when you wake up in the morning, so won’t waste energy when it knows you’ll be out.

But they didn’t stop there. Almost all thermostats are made for forced-air systems, but not all systems are forced air. With System Match, Nest activates custom energy-saving features depending on the system you have.

Nest can be adjusted from anywhere and is highly adaptable - it never stops learning.
