Beach Candy
Beach Candy is a brand that celebrates the rich textile heritage of India in its luxury resort wear. Having lived in Mumbai since 2008, the creative director of Beach Candy, Sophie Paget Steavenson, is passionate about exploring the traditional techniques of India’s artisans and incorporating them into her own designs.
The company is equally passionate about creating clothes under the highest of ethical and fair trade standards, using only master craftsmen and the earth’s natural fibres. All collections are produced by charitable organisations that help people out of poverty.
Their ‘trade-not-aid’ ethos focuses on training employees and offering them a fair working wage and strong support network. This ensures beautiful clothes that are extra special due to the story behind them.
On of the NGOs they work closely with encourages rural men and women from over 150 villages in India to strive for economic independence. With art and craft already embedded in their culture, the organisation helps them to market their skills and reach a larger market.
Comfortable in the heat yet still sophisticated, Beach Candy’s latest collection launches A Midsummer Night’s Dream that draws inspirations from Sophie’s time in Mumbai, infusing exotic prints with a candy-coloured palette.
Beach Candy has been featured in Vogue, the Telegraph, Vanity Fair, Instyle and Tatler.
