Age of Reason Studios
Experienced in everything from fishing to directing music videos, Ali Mapletoft, founder of Age of Reason, knows a thing or two about dover sole and dancing. Luckily for the luxury silk scarf company, Ali is also a talented designer and businesswoman.
Strongly advocating British design and manufacturing, Ali’s scarves are a finely tuned balance of wearable design and slightly barbed humour.
Every Age of Reason design conceived by Ali is brought to life on watercolour paper using coloured inks. These images are then printed onto fine silk before entering a finishing process of bathing, drying and steaming.
A seamstress finishes the scarves by hand, hemming the silk and giving each one a contrasting mitred corner. The process ends with your unique scarf being wrapped in Age of Reason paper and stamped with the GOLD galleon emblem before being shipped directly from their studio straight to you.
Never boring, Age of Reason scarves combine striking colours and slightly twisted imagery with the ultimate in luxury, beauty and elegance. Made in England from 100% silk, the team scours the country to source the finest materials, and only work with the very best artisans who can meet Age of Reason’s standards.
Age of Reason scarves are now being sold in Coco de Mer London, Whistles and boutique stores Earl of Bedlam and Jell-O Brighton.
Runner-up at Grazia's Fash-factor 2011 and admired by stylist Alexis Knox of T4's NewLook: Style the Nation, Age of Reason is leading British design from strength to strength.
They are currently involved in the 'Born To Walk Tall' project with UK charity Save The Children, which calls upon the fashion industry to help raise awareness for vital healthcare requirements.
