Founder of natural beauty brand ila, Denise Leicester, has spent a lifetime exploring the dynamics of natural healing. A qualified nurse, aromatherapist, yoga teacher and yogic healer, her hands-on experience extends from the rural communities of India to the Dubai royal family, and spans Eastern and South American healing traditions.
Meaning ‘earth’ in Sanskrit, ila’s philosophy is encapsulated in their maxim: beyond organic. Which is your favourite part of your job? Creating new products and working with beautiful ingredients, treatments, concepts and teaching.
Which is the part that you enjoy the least? Travelling.
What is your greatest achievement? Finding peace within myself.
What was your Plan B? I never had a plan B!
What is your most prized possession? My beautiful little Maltese Devi!
What’s the best advice you’ve been given? That real joy and happiness are found within and not in the outer world.

Favourite restaurant? In which city? Al Bharakat at Landaa Giraavaru in Maldives -the setting is magical, being on the water and they serve incredible Lebanese food.
What is your personal luxury? An evening of ila …candles, incense, music lighting my bathroom – inner peace bath salts followed glowing radiance body cream and face oil.
What steps do you take to make your life more positive? On a daily basis : yoga prayer, meditation, Nordic walking. Singing and laughter. Having a regular massage.
