Waking up this morning having swooned over President Obama’s declaration of support for same-sex marriage, because “I checked my watch and noticed it wasn’t 1952”, I realised that Vogue UK’s always excellent #fashionforecast on Twitter had become an essential part of my morning reading. Go Vogue Tweeterettes for working and owning even this heartbreaking weather!
But for those who want dreams of sun and the cockles of their hearts warmed I have just the thing: A duo of designers whose ethically conscious pieces come from sun drenched shores as well as being irreproachably stylish.
Olga Olsson
Designer Ruth Fergusson is as fabulous as her designs. “The best bikinis ever… fact” is what I saw on Facebook today and as worn Kate Moss, and Elle Macpherson they really aren’t wrong. All her pieces are made in Brazil by women paid a fair living wage and by buying the collection you are helping Olga Olsson to support and empower small producers. Yay!
Aspiga
Ethically sourced beaded sandals, handmade in Kenya with every dazzling and gleaming colours you would long for from a golden sun. Better still 20% of profits are donated to a Nairobi orphanage.
