Jimmie Martin’s unique designs have garnered them a lot of attention, as they effortlessly combine traditional design with urban glamour to create a collection that is edgy, statement and truly individual.
One word that describes you?
In your own words, what do you do?
I’m a furniture designer, customising old vintage pieces as well as new reproduction frames, changing finishes, upholstery and hand painted artwork, and also design lamps, busts, cushions and wallpapers. On the side of that I also have an interior design business aimed at both residential and commercial clients.
Who is your greatest influence in your career/life?
Philippe Starck inspires me as he is a great product designer, interior designer, furniture designer and keeps branching out in different areas. He, like myself, is not afraid of breaking rules and having fun.
Which is your favourite part of your job?
To be the creative director and an owner of both companies means that I have the freedom to create and have fun at all times. It’s almost like a great hobby that turned in to a business, which is a big luxury to be able to do.
Which is the part that you enjoy the least?
Trying to catch up with the every day stuff that stops me from doing the creative things.
What is your greatest achievement?
Getting to where I am today.
What was your Plan B?
Never had a plan B…
What is your most prized possession?
What’s the best advice you’ve been given?
The way you make your bed is the way you lay in it.
Please complete the sentence… I could not live without…..
Holidays and sunshine.
Favourite restaurant? In which city?
I am a sucker for Swedish pizza! You can find them all over Sweden and they are just the best ever. So I can’t name a specific place, they are everywhere.
What is your personal luxury?
Once every couple of months and go online and order lots of Swedish foods, snacks etc that I can’t get in London and get it delivered to me!
What steps do you take to make your life more positive?
Always think and act positively and you will surround yourself with positivity. Be negative and that’s all you’ll surround yourself with.
